A life best lived is a life by design. When you start giving your life dimension, color, objectives, purpose and strategies the results can be absolutely epic. Today I share this with you knowing we have choices. The choice to be happy, the choice to share our gifts and the choice to live in freedom based on the thoughts we think, the feelings we feel and the actions prompted by the process of choice.

Several years ago I walked away from a six-figure career to save my own life. The work schedule and goals in my corporate career was literally killing me. Between no sleep, driving or flying constantly, never home to enjoy family or community events, working 60 -hour workweeks and meeting huge million dollar goals quarterly. One fateful day when my company car malfunctioned on the freeway in LA, with no power steering or brakes, life was literally falling apart in seconds. It was this life altering experience that everything came into focus. I call this my rude-awakening. This jolted me out of my denial of feeling unfulfilled, uninspired and fatigued into feeling alive, courageous and motivated. Those split seconds I realized that I wanted to live a deeper more authentic and joyful life and create a life around a career versus the old wage slave paradigm that I believed looked like happiness and success.

The beautiful sacred truth, – that I have a choice about how I experience my life – filled my heart with hope and forever changed the trajectory of my life. Today it fuels my life as an Author, Lifestyle and Business Strategist and Motivational Speaker, where I am dedicated to inspiring professionals, especially women, toward redefining her happiness and success and make the most powerful choices for the greatest impact in freedom, income and passion for life. Everyday at every moment we have the ability to be our own happiness hero. Even in the midst of darkness, when everything is falling apart, you have the power of choice. Every so often we each require a nudge or reminder that we are powerful, talented, amazing, worthy and loveable enough to create our life and ourselves based on what your soul is calling.

At some point or another a pivotal turn will take place in your life or career, which will forever change your life and your role in it. In order to strive for a remarkable life, you have to decide that you want one. So are your ready to launch your big, beautiful, creative and juicy life?

Implement these key actionable steps: Your starting point is the answer to the one question you must ask and listen to: What is your heart’s true desire? Write your heart’s true desire here:___________________________.

When you’re feeling ready, follow the steps of deliberate creation and enjoy the power of the process in which you are immersed. There are no weird coincidences. What is meant to be always happens — and you have the power to deliberately create an ideal outcome. Your success is indicated by the power of your will to overcome obstacles with the narrowing down of the areas of interest. Based on focused intention, we often lose focus on less important areas so as to focus intently on the one.

The more we recognize that we are each responsible for our own happiness, the closer we are to seeing that our happiness powers the path to improved relationships, careers, finances, and health, as well as assists with other issues and areas of life.

To recognize how powerful your happiness can be, we simply need to adopt a new mindset by activating the following steps:

Follow Your JOY – It may not feel like it, but your joy exists within you and it is a clear path to what your heart truly desires. When you are listening and acting upon your joy, your ego does not communicate “I can’t, shoulda, woulda,” thoughts and destructive self-talk excuses behind your feelings of unworthiness. These feelings become non-existent when you place zero energy behind your ego thoughts. When you “Just Own Yourself (JOY),” you become the CEO of YOU and fall in love with expressing your MOXIE.

Ignite Imagination – Give yourself permission to imagine what your life looks and feels like beyond what it is now. It’s ok — even great — to daydream. Just BE and ALLOW yourself to have some fun with your own psyche. By doing so, you unlock the keys to the treasure within and let go of any obstacles standing in your way. Imagine the emotional or physical pain you have been suffering with is now part of your past, and no longer exists. Even if this is just a brief respite that lasts a few minutes, it is a relief to your mind and body that you can feel good and pain free, one step at a time. You are being guided by your imagination when you begin to feel and recognize the endless possibilities within and around your world.

Deliberate Creation – This is the conscious, intentional focus of marrying your desired intention with vision, and strategically acting in your external world where you co-create with Spirit to manifest an outcome. As you collaborate with your inner creator by putting action behind positive intent and matching your positive feeling with positive action, you become an unstoppable magnet for the continuous flow of positive change.

Creativity: is a component of the life force for all that we do. Your ability to create remains infinite through choice. From the moment you rise in the morning, you create your thoughts, your day, how you present yourself to the world and the quality of your life. Decision making is the number-one trait that supports being the champion of your life. When you choose to tap into the positive life forces within, you intensify your vibration and become a force of power beyond your imagination.

Have a Cup of Courage – Your dream is usually outside of your comfort zone. It takes courage to walk a new path you have not navigated before. Have a cup of courage a day. Sip-by-sip, your vision is sharper and your dream becomes attainable. Courage is a more productive avenue when you reverse the energies of your fear.

Practice a Growth Mindset – This is the ability to deliberately change an old perspective with a new, positive action. Action creates change, movement creates truth. Choosing happiness every day in today’s complex world is not just a choice; it’s a lifestyle. By re- training the brain, you can develop this new power practice. Decades of research relate the choice toward happiness to improving your health, increasing blood flow to the brain, and encouraging an enhanced ability to make decisions. When your mind and body feel good, you become spiritually in sync with your divine purpose, and your life becomes more meaningful and authentic.

Employ Creative Tools – These tools become the catalyst for making change here and now. Many people believe that change occurs with our thoughts alone. However, change may not happen even after years of psychotherapy and insightful epiphanies — although you may end up with more clarity and focus about where you are today in relation to your past. What encourages change, here and now, are tools that propel you into your future rather than analyze your past. A tool may be meditation, hiring a coach or researching a topic that piques your interest.

Reinvent an Authentic Self – The path to reinvention is a straight one from head to heart although it may be long and arduous. As you become your ultimate other or higher self, the spiritual spark that keeps you on track with your life’s purpose and in touch with your joy and passion – listening to our truth while simultaneously acting upon it may seem like peeling an onion while holding back the tears. Saying good-bye to your ego is a process of letting go of superficial attachments or illusions. Most will only dig when they know there is pure gold; you must be willing to do the work since that gold lies within your heart. Through thoughtful diligence, you can then continue on the route to happiness because the gold has revealed your authentic power. When we live in our truth, we can change the world in fascinating and magnanimous ways.

Happy Birthday,  America!

For those of us living in the States, we are blessed to be born in a place where freedom, liberty and justice for all, reigns. Often our freedom to make choices is often constrained by our limited thinking. To know that one has the power to choose to do, be and create whatever they want is a power often abused or ignored, mainly because it appears as free. Our freedom is all part of the beauty that our founding fathers had the courage to create with walking away from an oppressive government to create a life and pursuit of happiness in a new Union, better known as the United States of America.

Therefore, we owe our freedom to our forefathers and those brave enough to protect our country’s freedom. Our freedom is a gift and comes with the challenge to embrace your freedom and make choices that align with solid core values, such as integrity, respect, trust, honesty, kindness, generosity….

The most powerful human ability is the ability to make choices. Every moment of every day we make choices. From the time we awake in the morning, the clothes we wear to the decisions at work, home, career and finances, all leads to a road of well-being. In turn, you can choose to be busy, you can choose to be stressed, you can choose your own happiness and joy, it’s genuinely up to you. No one has the power over your own happiness, as you hold the key.

According to Webster’s dictionary freedom is defined as; ” the absence of constraint of choice. “

In essence, most focus on what is limiting them, most focus on , what is in the way, what is lacking, what is not working ? How about what is working, what are you grateful for and what are the solutions available if we choose to look beyond the scarcity of our own thoughts and fears?

You see you do have the freedom to choose beyond what society would mold you to believe and begin to choose at any moment what freedom means to you: The freedom to choose…

  • to leave an abusive relationship
  • to say I love you
  • to start opening your heart and dating again
  • to create that new business
  • to write that book
  • to lose the weight
  • to stand up for yourself
  • to get divorced
  • to start a new career
  • to ditch the self- limiting thoughts
  • to stop staying in victim mode
  • to begin a new chapter of your life
  • to take a class
  • to volunteer
  • to overcome fear
  • to make new friends

It is up to us to make this country great! And to do so, you must live in your greatness and choose your highest potential, this takes action, ladies and gentlemen. Live your life by generating your own freedom and start making courageous choices. To honor this life you are honoring those who sacrificed their own lives so you could have the opportunity to shine and pursue your happiness and fulfill your potential.

It is time to make choices toward positive change and live in freedom where the action you take makes an impact and ripple effect to cause celebration to be alive!

You are supported in loved in your choices and we welcome you to be BOLD, BE BRAVE and BE YOU!

Cheers to your happiness,

Jackie

Happiness attracts money is a topic that  is a controversial one, however, it is a topic that can either breed contempt or open your life to freedom. It all depends on your clear intentions. Intention is key to creating a healthy life and bank account. But if stress, feeling a strong “I need”, is on the surface of consciousness, then you are telling the Universe your lack of need ,which attracts more LACK. So how do you attract a mindset for abundance versus scarcity? Well, happiness can attract money, as it has been proven, when you do what you love and are following your passion with purpose. But if your passion is waning, your purpose will drown in unfulfillment and your vibration for attracting monies will drop off the radar. Here are three scientific strategies that not only work, you need to work them!

  1. Put money low on the list. According to researchers Kasser and Ryan, those who put money high on their priority list are at greater risk for depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. “Money-seekers also score lower on tests of vitality and self-actualization,” Ryan says.
  2. Have meaningful goals. As humans, we thrive on having a purpose, but what is purpose if there is no meaning behind it? “People who strive for something significant, whether it’s learning a new craft or raising moral children, are far happier than those who don’t have strong dreams or aspirations,” father and son team Diener and Biswas-Diener found. Positive psychology authority Tal Ben-Shahar agrees, having stated “Happiness lies at the intersection between pleasure and meaning. Whether at work or at home, the goal is to engage in activities that are both personally significant and enjoyable.”
  3. Take initiative at work. Researcher Amy Wrzesniewski says that, “when we express creativity, help others, suggest improvements or do additional tasks on the job, we make our work more rewarding and feel more in control.”

So how does one initiate a happier life when the bills are piling up and you need money? I am a firm believer in manifesting your desires and operating from your higher self. What does that mean and how does this pay the bills? I will tell you, when I was on the other side of zero, it was tough to see beyond myself from drowning amongst my fear, the day to day of getting by to feed myself let alone keep a roof over my head. On the other side of the coin, when I had plenty of money rolling in, I spent more time focusing on how to keep it rather than enjoy it, which meant working the 60 hour a week grind to keep the dough from running out. This was not how I pictured my happiness. The key is to live below your means, no matter how much money you have coming in and to simplify your life. The lesson to living simple and to focus more on what matters and less on material items. Spending on life experiences is far more rewarding than on “stuff”. Detox the stuff, sell it, goodwill it, make others happy with donations who are in need of the stuff you no longer require. Giving is the key to reward, giving and serving is the key to financial success but more importantly when you give you are happier. When you are stuck, you may be stuck by inner obstacles, old beliefs and not feeling deserving of happiness. I describe this as subconscious cobwebs which can be whisked away and I share how to do this in the life enhancement techniques in my book, Get Happy and Create a Kick -Butt Life! A Creative Toolbox to Rapidly Activate the Life you Desire.

Lastly, come up with a FLOW system where your product, service, talent will help and serve others with doing what you LOVE and the money will flow back to you in return from your heart centered approach.  This is no time to be shy, get out and shine as your happiness awaits and will attract the money. If you are stuck, change what you are doing, stop comparing your self to others, and begin to add your signature to your talent. No one does EXACTLY what you do with how you do it.

In the next blog I will share steps to manifesting that have worked for me and countless others toward honing in on your purpose and thriving.

Please share your thoughts on how your happiness attracts money on our blog!

running in heels Are you a woman running heals, frantic to figure out your time with career, money, family and social life but end up not doing anything at all to resolve this feeling of disarray? Well, join the club! Each and every one of us has been there. I coin this as “women running in heels”, as we tend to do it all, want it all, try to make it ALL happen and end up stressed and simply exhausted. This was me some 2 years ago, giving, giving , giving to others with barely enough time to renew myself or adjust to a life worth creating, without falling short on quality people time, sleep and a life outside of my career!   According to the American Psychological Association stress gender survey, stress has been significantly more on the rise for women than men. Almost half of women surveyed (49%) reported a rise in stress over the past five years. We , as women, are all too willing to please others holding a false belief that if we handle it all, then life will be easier by doing it ourselves versus delegating the details to someone else.   So how is that working for you?

The bottomline is,  life  is running YOU, instead of YOU creating the life that you desire and deserve.  So, what do you really want or better yet, what do you want to get out of life, right now? The one constant that we can never capture again is our time.  Perhaps it’s time to just STOP  the crazy life treadmill and determine what feels right versus what is wrong? Step back and begin to get clear and envision your happiness , as this will attract the abundance, joy and desire you deserve! I learned this the hard way with a come to Buddha moment, where my company car almost crashed from going out of control and landed in front of two eight foot Buddha statues outside a furniture store in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Talk about a wake up call to the antithesis of my chaotic life careening me to the edge of no return.  I certainly would not want this to happen to you. However, in hindsight what I learned was the best choices are the one’s we make consciously, not from reactive measures or societal demands. We are human and the Universe has a funny way of  journeying back to self  to  determine if we are practicing self – love and self – care.

My story , as a woman running in heels, was an opportunity for me to go deep, recognize my soul calling and begin to consciously transform myself to the writer , now, published  Author and Inspiration Coach that I deeply yearned to be. I invite those women who I see have so much magic within and are running from their own soul calling to  take a listen to how I turned my challenge  into opportunities,  in an interview with psychologist  Dr. Laura Ciel,  on her radio show, which empowers individuals going through life transition.  It’s short and to the point , however, I would love your feedback! They say the best way to deal with feeling overwhelmed and stressed is  changingOverwhelm your attitude. Well, easier said than done! Today I received a question about how to best handle feeling overwhelmed? Before I answer this question, let it be known that we are ALL under some type of stress  in our lives and you are not alone. Worry and fear can take over which can block the channel of solutions from opening up and allowing for clarity to enter. This is our ego pestering us with demon like thinking.  In order to snap out of this, one must retrain the brain by learning  not to go down this path to begin with. You are a capable and amazing person and whichever difficulty and stressor you are facing right now is to stretch you beyond your comfort zone.  In other words, everything you need is already within you, it may be hidden deep within you, but you carry the authentic power to overcome obstacles and realize that with every problem there is a solution.

The only constant during complex times is change. It is time for you to make a change, it’s that simple. When you do the same thing over and over and receive the same unwanted result then the definition of insanity becomes your constant and not your change. Therefore you must decide  to make a tweak in your formula as well as ask for help.

Let’s begin with the first stress reliever solution : Take a deep breathe in and then out. I ask that you think of the word SIMPLIFY. Simplify your life, become super organized and clear the clutter. By simplifying,  you open the flow of good energy to come in and allow for your work and personal life  to feel at ease. Simplifying is a form of being proactive versus reactive. Developing a proactive stance offers the preventive measure from stress arising in the future. Whatever you do have in your control, is an opportunity for you to be proactive. Think this through, make  a list of what you can control and seek help in the areas where you have questions and need guidance.

Secondly, on your big list of to do’s choose only two that are absolute musts to get done and place ALL of your energy and concentration on those two. Whichever, is left on the list try to delegate this out or schedule it on a timeline for after the two projects are under control. Stress can be a funny feeling as even the most exciting of news can cause stress, a wedding, a move , a promotion. Again, our ego plays this old recording of fear of failure, doom and gloom. STOP, breathe, focus with the greatest of intentions and you will hit your mark of success. Break things down into smaller bites and before you know it, your stress is no longer and you have plowed through what once was troubling you to begin with. Have patience with yourself, take your time and all will work out beautifully.

Remember the Universe did not bring you this far, for you to fail. Trust and believe in yourself, you are the creator of your life. And you can do whichever you want to do, just imagine your passion and dig into this. Be the Unstoppable creator that you are!

www.gethappyzone.comAlthough I believe we are all born with a happiness seed within us and the science of Positive Psychology proves that 40% of our happiness is based on choice, there was a time when I was stressed out, lethargic and my metabolism and adrenals decided to shut down. From the outside I looked healthy, young and energetic, however, I require an enormous amount of rest in order to function the remaining part of the day. It was not til I was sick and tired of being sick and tired that I made new choices in my life that are based on lasting positive consequences and not short term immediate results.

Sometimes the answers are not from external sources but from gaining further knowledge with the self.  For example, one can’t assume that feeling depressed,  means you have depression but often western medicine has our society believe taking a pill will change life from crappy to happy. Until I peeled back the layers to my body, my mood and my lack of energy, at first, naturally, I assumed I was depressed when in actuality I had a silent problem, known as a resistant thyroid. The thyroid regulates hormones, adrenals, as well as the amount of minerals and iodine required in our bodies to keep the engine of our bodies  and our minds working in a healthy manner.  Nerve damage, back, spine and weight gain can occur and lead to fibromyalgia and other immune disorders, much of what masked the root of my problem By all means, please seek proper medical attention and seek professional care from a medical physician to determine and peel back the layers to your bodies, needs, your mood and your hormones.

Here is what I did to rewire my brain toward health and happiness:

1. STOP Complaining –  the more I complain, the more energy I give to the problem. Switch the energy you are using to complain and place it toward a positive action. In other words, as soon as you accept what you cannot change you recognize what you can change. Creating positive change is empowering, increases your endorphins, which improves your overall health.

2. PRAY –  One can never pray too much, are you praying enough? Instead of asking for what you want try thanking God or your higher power for the strength you require to heal, for the grace of new resources to learn what it is you require and for protection of you and your loved one’s.

3. Find a Good Naturopath Once I found the right naturopath, it was as if a light was turned on in a very dark rom that I had been in for a long time. Working with a naturopath will help you distinguish the root of your health challenges and in turn you will learn what nutrients, minerals and treatments you require to change your life for the better. For me, a natural thyroid medicine, leafy vegetables , smaller amounts of protein throughout the day, selenium, iodine, maca and chromium supplements improved my energy, normalized my hormones and decreased the cortisol levels in my body from the stress of a workaholic life and high pressured corporate job. A naturopath will instantly turn you on to a deeper knowledge of what your body and your mind needs and can be a trusted support to keeping you on the happy and heathy path of life.

4. Exercise – at one point I was doing intense Ashtanga yoga and weight lifting, which burned out my already frail adrenals. Moderation is key to moving your body and being gentle on your joints and muscles. Pilates, Hatha yoga, walking and light weights will keep you tone , increase your heart rate in addition to requiring less recovery time from lack of over exertion.

5. Sleep – Just like turning off your computer from working and running all day, you too require sleep. Sleeping and giving your body the rest it needs means paying attention to how your body feels and how much rest it requires. Sleeping and REM, rapid eye movement, is required for the best type of rest our bodies naturally require. Excessive worry and anxiety is a natural sleep killer, however meditation and a positive I AM mantra helped me rest easier. My favorite I AM mantra for sleep is: I AM floating on a bed of clouds and sleeping now. As you breathe out the negative and breathe in the positive, imagine this beautiful cloud lifting you into a natural slumber.

6. Hydrate – drinking enough water is never really ENOUGH. A healthy tip is to purchase distilled water and pour it into a pitcher, add slices of lemon, lime and fresh mint then refrigerate and drink it throughout the day til it is finished. Alkalizing your drinking water clears out toxins and cleanses your organs. Drinking water with these wonderful alkalized additions made feel I was at a resort and drinking myself toward a healthier body and increased my energy.

7. Commit –  as soon as I made a commitment to detoxing what was negative in my life, I experienced less stress, less distractions and more inner peace. It is a big commitment and can take years to unplug old patterns , codependent tendencies and attention oriented behaviors. However, once you do, you feel lighter, healthier and happier.

8. Sunshine – the hot topic now is lack of vitamin D in our diets. Vitamin D naturally comes from the sun and we need vitamin D for bone health, in addition vitamin D deficiency is linked to breast cancer, prostrate cancer, heart disease, chronic pain, depression, weight gain and osteoporosis.  ( Web MD). I relish my beach walks and enjoy 30 minutes of sun everyday.

9. Follow your Intuition – if that little voice in your head is trying to tell you something, then LISTEN. Often, your intuition is your body’s internal voice telling you to dig deeper and pay closer attention. The more I listened to my intuition the sooner the answers appeared and manifested as my antennae was up.

Although the idea of rewiring your brain sounds like a chore, it actually leads to a smoother path to your health and happiness.

It feels satisfying to be able to control various aspects of our lives. We can, to an extent, control what classes we take in school, where we live, where we apply meditationto work, what we eat for lunch and even what logic we put behind our arguments. So why does it seem like something as personal as our emotions are so often out of our range of control?

Salon’s interview with neuroscientist Richard Davidson revealed the science behind how happiness and health are connected and why emotions can actually be more controllable than you may think. Although the connection between health and happiness is a relatively new one, he stresses the relationship between the brain and the body’s biological processes. Those with more resilient emotional styles were even shown to have stronger immune systems.

From experience, we know that improvement comes from practice and training. It’s hard to be good at something the first time you try, whether it has to do with sports, academics, occupation, relationships, or life changes. This can be applied to our emotions too. The term “neuroplasticity” refers to the ability of our brain to change and adapt according to our experiences. This means that nothing is set in stone, no matter what age group you fall into.

If the routine that we repeatedly follow does not produce the results we want, why would we expect new results the next time we do it? Being different requires thinking differently and doing something different! For example, not many people see the true value of meditation, and they brush it off without considering that it might have the potential to bring change into their lives. It is a type of mental exercise that can center our thoughts and emotions and give us a new way to start training them and controlling them. Not only does it bring a sense of peace and calming, but it also encourages good habits within the mind.

But just as each person is unique, so is their emotional style and way of learning new things. We’re not suggesting that you attempt to completely change yourself as a person or get rid of any of the emotions that you have already. Rather, use new techniques to get in touch with your unique emotional style, and start thinking of emotions as something that can intentionally be refined and developed. Don’t be afraid to take control of your life! By developing your brain, you can improve your emotional stability, and by improving your emotional stability, you can boost your health. Never stop yourself from being healthy, happy, and in control! Do what feels good, even if it’s a little scary, chances are you will survive with a smile.

happy-girlFinding new summer activities require excessive time, effort, and money…right? Wrong. Something like going to the park may seem like a repetitive, unoriginal idea for getting out of the house, but it can easily become new and exciting by simply adding a new spin to it. Try these five ideas to make a simple outing or activity something to be happy and excited about!

Pack a picnic or barbeque! Whether you take the family, some close friends, or even some coworkers, a picnic is a social activity that is both fun and delicious. It creates an atmosphere for bonding and learning, and it can serve as a small escape from the hum-drum routine of everyday life. Most importantly, it’s a thoughtful way of saying, “I’m happy I’m here with you today.”

Bring a Frisbee or lively activity! The park is a perfect place to have a fun pick-up game of soccer, volleyball, or football. Not only can you reconnect with friends or teach your children how to play a sport, but you can also rediscover your love for a sport and burn a few calories while doing so! Summer is the perfect time to be active and outdoors, and the park serves as a great environment for doing so.

Have a water balloon fight! We all remember how fun and exciting this was when we were young, so why can’t it still be fun now? This is a great way to connect with the children in our lives or even to embrace our own inner-child. Beat the heat this summer with some water balloons and maybe even a super-soaker water gun!

Learn how to slackline! Slacklining is a recreational activity that not many people know about. It originated as a form of tightrope walking, and it consists of walking on a taut length of webbing between two stationary points (such as a couple trees at the park). Although your first time trying it may be challenging, it is an excellent way to develop better balance, posture, and focus. If this is not for you, lengthen and strengthen your body with pilates, it does wonders for the spine and toning your muscles for a sleeker figure.

happy womenWith the end of school, graduations, changing schedules, and work, it’s hard not to feel stressed as we head into summer. Summer should be a time to get some sun and a little relaxation, but often times we get caught up stressing about both the little and big stressors that lead to living hectic lives. What can lead to a happier, stress- free summer entails being the champion to your own happiness and health.

Instead of drudging through each day of the week, give yourself something to look forward to each day! This will give you a sense of renewal every day and leave you feeling refreshed and excited. When we get caught up in the same routine, day in and day out, it begins to lower the value and potential that we see in each day (and I admit, I am a victim of this myself).  Our immune systems remain low and cortisol levels go up with hanging on to stress, both positive and negative stress. The power behind your own creativity becomes stagnant, so STOP going down the path of stress and up spiral your thoughts through positive action.  Here are a few suggestions to boost your days:

Have lunch with a friend! This is something you can do any day, even in the midst of work, school, or just another busy day. This will allow you to forget about the deadlines for a little while and enjoy the company of a person you care about. Even better, use this time to meet new people and friends, like that coworker you’ve never really had the time to get to know.

Have a mini spa day! Take a day (or even part of a day) all to yourself to dedicate to pure relaxation. If money’s a little tight, make your own spa at home! Have a long bubble bath with relaxing music or your favorite TV show, and you can even add in a few candles to create that serene, calming atmosphere. Ahhh, just breathe in the positive and breathe out the negative, carve out some special time for you.

Go for a swim or a beach run! Summer is a time to be in swim suits and minimal clothing, which can be a bit stressful in itself. Since summer is also the time of the best weather, use it to get outdoors and do something active. Walking, running, swimming, and creating your own workout are all things that don’t take a lot of time but will help you get the beach body that will boost your confidence!

Your life becomes exponentially more exciting and fulfilling when you create each day to be a great day!  Take the next step in creating a happier, healthier, lifestyle for yourself, and make this summer the best one yet!

Mothers DayMother’s Day is right around the corner! Each year it comes, and each year we children are faced with a similar question: what is a good way to show our mom how much we really care about her? The gifts have all been said and done…but this doesn’t mean they should be discarded! Mother’s Day isn’t about going to the store and buying something material and expensive, it’s about telling her that you love her and that you’re thankful for her every day. Here are 5 creative and inexpensive ways to turn the outplayed, traditional gifts into new, personalized gifts from the heart.

1. Make her a card. That’s right, break out the markers and art supplies take yourself back to the good old elementary school days, when the only thing you wanted to do was make mama proud. You can use as many or as few words as you choose, with as much or as little effort as you’re willing to put in. The fact that you took the extra time to make the card yourself instead of quickly browsing through kind but generic cards at the store is both thoughtful and original, and it’s something she’ll want to hang on her refrigerator, just like the old times!

2. Pick her a blossoming bouquet. Grocery stores and florists offer a wide variety of arrangements and beautiful bouquets. But consider how much more it would it mean to mom if you made a personal arrangement of your own flowers. If you don’t have a garden of your own, plant a couple seeds so she can watch the flowers grow and bring new life to her home!

3. Personalize a charm bracelet. Jewelry is often a go-to gift at this time of year. Instead of falling back on a simple pair of earrings or a plain necklace, your gift will be much more personal in the form of a charm bracelet. This way, you can fill this small piece of jewelry with charms that capture the special memories that you and your mom share, and you can keep adding to it as the years continue.

4. Capture your memories in a scrapbook. If jewelry is not the path you want to take, another way to capture the unforgettable moments is through a scrapbook or photo album. This way, she can look back and see your smiling face anytime! An alternative to this could be a memory box, filled with any and all artifacts and pictures that remind you of your time spent together. Just like a charm bracelet, you can add to it as your relationship continues to grow.

5. Create a relaxation basket. If a weekend trip to the spa is a bit out of the budget, fill a basket with bath salts, lotions, and loofas. This way, she can create a relaxation station in the comfort of her own home. Give your hardworking mom a reason to kick up her feet and relax!

A price tag has never been determined how much love you can show your mother on a particular day of the year. When you were young, why did she hang your cards on the refrigerator and wear the macaroni necklaces you made so proudly? It was the thought, the effort, and the love that went into every word in the card and every noodle in the necklace. What will mean most to her this Mother’s Day is not the object but the thought behind it, even if it’s a simple call to tell her you love her.
