The main ingredient to a successful and fulfilled life is gratitude.
While during chaotic and troubling economic times, gratitude may seem elusive and most people often forget to practice the fact that usually what we need , we already have and for that we should be thankful everyday.
The easiest ways to make your blessings count is to count your blessings Acknowledge what is good in your life. Once you begin to do so, you will feel how powerful gratitude can be, in fact it makes what you appreciate stronger.
In the haste of our busy lives, we overlook the simple laws of gratitude, so here is a quick refresher.
1. Gratitude is all – inclusive – Good days give you happiness, bad days give you wisdom. Both are essential to growing and evolving.
Both the fortunate an unfortunate occurrences in your life leads to gratitude. You would not be the person you are today, which has contributed to the advancement of your life, by practicing gratitude.
There are no coincidences in life, the ordinary people you have met have taught you something in your life. Everything that takes place in your life everyday, take notice, it forms a new kind of perspective that may not have been there previously.

2. The tribute to the ones you lost is not grief but gratitude – Sometimes the greatest gift imaginable is the one that did not last forever. Be thankful your paths crossed and had the chance to create the most wonderful moments of your life.

3. Being present, is being grateful– everyday you wake up and take a breathe is a moment of life that leads to another moment of your life. Take solace in the privilege of walking this earth, the beauty of nature and wondrous miracles speaking to you by choosing to be present.

4. Gratitude includes giving back – Think about how much more we receive everyday then we give. The moments where a stranger let’s you go ahead of them in line at the grocery store, a friend buys you lunch or a cup of coffee for no reason other than enjoying your presence, a professional goes above and beyond to form a solution, just simply by listening and helping with his/her wisdom and knowledge.
It is in the giving and the gratitude of receiving that makes life rich.

5. Live and DO Gratitude – those who journal 5 things a day that brings them gratitude have been studied, in over a decade of scientific research, to be happier people. When you think, speak and act in gratitude, this is what brings more meaning and positivity into your life, according to Psychology Today.

When you are feeling sad, anxious, depressed or lonely, change your attitude to gratitude. Your blessings may be far greater than your perceived misfortunes. Try it!

Whether you’re feeling down and are looking for a pick-me-up, or you simply want to be a happier person, changing your mood isn’t hard at all. Every day we experience at least one thing in our daily lives that can instantly lift us up and improve our happiness.

We’ve heard forever that money can’t buy happiness and it’s true.

If you don’t believe me then check out these seven small changes that will help your boost happiness in everyday life.

#1 Change Your Attitude

I’m sure you have heard on occasions that being negative only attracts more negativity which in turn brings down your mood.

Scientists have studied positive thinking and it simply attracts more of that happy bug to you. Try taking a look at the good things in everyday life and fully experience and focus on those. Or better yet, try to turn a negative into a positive.  (Source)

#2 Smile

Who doesn’t feel good when smiling? And I mean a real smile not a fake one! Smiling to make us happier is not a new thing. It was discovered by Charles Darwin in 1872 who found that facial expressions actively influence our mood.

Numerous studies have confirmed that when smiling, hormones called endorphins is are released into our bloodstream which tell the brain that we are happy. Something as simple as smiling becomes contagious and can certainly help us feel more joy throughout the day. (Source)

#3 Listen to Music

We all know how powerful music can be – music really does make us happy.
Have you ever noticed when you’re out and about, you tend to hear music a lot, whether you’re at the grocery store, shopping mall or the hair and beauty salons?

That’s because as a shopper listening to music, it lifts your mood – in turn, helping you spend more.

A study at the University of Missouri has confirmed that listening to music can make you happier.

So next time you feel a little down, crank up the volume and listen to that tune. (Source)

#4 Call a Friend

In all honesty, how many times have our friends brought joy in our lives?

Your best pal is your BFF for a reason, they make us burst into laughter. Chatting with your bestie can help to lower your stress levels resulting in an uplifted mood.

But it doesn’t have to be just your BFF, casual friends and relatives also help raising the level of happiness.  Studies have shown that one person’s happiness triggers a chain reaction.  (Source)

#5 Practice Gratitude

Did you know that counting your blessing each day actually boosts your mood and makes you a happier person!?

It’s been scientifically proven that gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions. Appreciating what you have actually leads a better, happier lifestyle, as gratitude has been associated with greater happiness. So why not wake up and spend a few minutes each day reminding yourself of all the things you are thankful for and start appreciating them now.

#6 Sleep

We all know what a good night’s sleep can do for us, but what a lot of people don’t know is how much it can increase our happiness.

A study from the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School showed that sleep and mood are associated with one another. This means that a lack of sleep can cause stress and irritability, whereas a healthy night’s sleep can enhance your mood.

So go and get a good night’s rest and regulate your mood to happiness. (Source)

#7 Get Some Fresh Air

People tend to forget about this one, but it’s true, getting some fresh air can lift your spirits.

Sunlight and fresh air help you get your daily dosage of vitamin D which is needed to regulate your mood.

The Harvard Health Letter mentions that by venturing outside you can reap physical and mental health benefits. A breath of fresh air really is one of nature’s greatest medicines.  (Source)

Happiness attracts money is a topic that  is a controversial one, however, it is a topic that can either breed contempt or open your life to freedom. It all depends on your clear intentions. Intention is key to creating a healthy life and bank account. But if stress, feeling a strong “I need”, is on the surface of consciousness, then you are telling the Universe your lack of need ,which attracts more LACK. So how do you attract a mindset for abundance versus scarcity? Well, happiness can attract money, as it has been proven, when you do what you love and are following your passion with purpose. But if your passion is waning, your purpose will drown in unfulfillment and your vibration for attracting monies will drop off the radar. Here are three scientific strategies that not only work, you need to work them!

  1. Put money low on the list. According to researchers Kasser and Ryan, those who put money high on their priority list are at greater risk for depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. “Money-seekers also score lower on tests of vitality and self-actualization,” Ryan says.
  2. Have meaningful goals. As humans, we thrive on having a purpose, but what is purpose if there is no meaning behind it? “People who strive for something significant, whether it’s learning a new craft or raising moral children, are far happier than those who don’t have strong dreams or aspirations,” father and son team Diener and Biswas-Diener found. Positive psychology authority Tal Ben-Shahar agrees, having stated “Happiness lies at the intersection between pleasure and meaning. Whether at work or at home, the goal is to engage in activities that are both personally significant and enjoyable.”
  3. Take initiative at work. Researcher Amy Wrzesniewski says that, “when we express creativity, help others, suggest improvements or do additional tasks on the job, we make our work more rewarding and feel more in control.”

So how does one initiate a happier life when the bills are piling up and you need money? I am a firm believer in manifesting your desires and operating from your higher self. What does that mean and how does this pay the bills? I will tell you, when I was on the other side of zero, it was tough to see beyond myself from drowning amongst my fear, the day to day of getting by to feed myself let alone keep a roof over my head. On the other side of the coin, when I had plenty of money rolling in, I spent more time focusing on how to keep it rather than enjoy it, which meant working the 60 hour a week grind to keep the dough from running out. This was not how I pictured my happiness. The key is to live below your means, no matter how much money you have coming in and to simplify your life. The lesson to living simple and to focus more on what matters and less on material items. Spending on life experiences is far more rewarding than on “stuff”. Detox the stuff, sell it, goodwill it, make others happy with donations who are in need of the stuff you no longer require. Giving is the key to reward, giving and serving is the key to financial success but more importantly when you give you are happier. When you are stuck, you may be stuck by inner obstacles, old beliefs and not feeling deserving of happiness. I describe this as subconscious cobwebs which can be whisked away and I share how to do this in the life enhancement techniques in my book, Get Happy and Create a Kick -Butt Life! A Creative Toolbox to Rapidly Activate the Life you Desire.

Lastly, come up with a FLOW system where your product, service, talent will help and serve others with doing what you LOVE and the money will flow back to you in return from your heart centered approach.  This is no time to be shy, get out and shine as your happiness awaits and will attract the money. If you are stuck, change what you are doing, stop comparing your self to others, and begin to add your signature to your talent. No one does EXACTLY what you do with how you do it.

Are you feeling that holiday energy buzz where you realize it’s the end of the year and there’s so much left to do? In today’s world, the holidays encourage, ending business with a bang, making holiday travel plans, shopping for bargains, and getting the house ready for family and friends.  To ease into the holidays instead of sliding in head first I share 9 practical holiday tips to less stress that have worked for me year after year.

Let’s start with where the holidays might hurt the most and that’s your pocket book. Saving money and time makes everyone happy, take note of  the creative ways in which to accomplish both: 

1. Buckle down and write your to do list now. Start crossing off what is most important two weeks or so before you celebrate your holidays. This saves you on time by organizing yourself ahead of the holiday rush.

2. Cash in on credit card and banking points. Learn where you can use those points now for cash that you have already spent throughout the year. For example, did you know you can use your American Express points on Amazon by linking your account to them? Your accrued points can be utilized to buy and ship holiday gifts in time to be opened.

3.  Take advantage of the super sales, Groupon and Living Social specials. Small business’ are offering some fantastic deals right now with great prices on services. Buy now to gift those savings to your Mom, sister, friend or yourself with a gift certificate, yoga classes, facial, gift basket etc.

4. Your trash is someone else’s treasure. Consign what you no longer require and use the cash or store credit for gifts. You might be surprised what you can sell or purchase via consignment shops. Old jewelry, vintage coats and holiday dresses and shoes are hot items now. The extra $20 or more dollars can  go a long way in purchasing gift wrap or a stocking stuffer.

5. Send E-Holiday cards and save money , it’s fast , convenient and green. For those who prefer the postal route, utilize unused cards bought last year or craft a photo card of you, your pets, family or favorite trip you went on. Creating is fun and encourages the holiday spirit.

6. Clear the clutter and renew your space. As you prepare your space for a new year why not toss out papers, magazines and the piles of stuff that accrues over the year. If you have not read it or utilized it by now, recycle it. A cluttered house is a cluttered mind. A feeling of freedom ushers in by detoxing your environment, this includes your computer, email inbox and office space.

7. Do a trade! Swap your service or product with someone who offers what you might be looking for. This is a great way to collaborate, build referrals for your business and save some cash. 

8. How about giving yourself a break in the kitchen and pot luck social meals ? Save your time and money and ask family and friends to contribute to the holiday feast, instead of doing it all yourself.

9.  Give your self permission to enjoy yourself, take time out for YOU! The Holidays are for enjoying family, friends, co-workers, and resting from a year of hard work and celebrating LIFE. Say NO to stress and YES to holiday happiness, you deserve it!

happy womenWith the end of school, graduations, changing schedules, and work, it’s hard not to feel stressed as we head into summer. Summer should be a time to get some sun and a little relaxation, but often times we get caught up stressing about both the little and big stressors that lead to living hectic lives. What can lead to a happier, stress- free summer entails being the champion to your own happiness and health.

Instead of drudging through each day of the week, give yourself something to look forward to each day! This will give you a sense of renewal every day and leave you feeling refreshed and excited. When we get caught up in the same routine, day in and day out, it begins to lower the value and potential that we see in each day (and I admit, I am a victim of this myself).  Our immune systems remain low and cortisol levels go up with hanging on to stress, both positive and negative stress. The power behind your own creativity becomes stagnant, so STOP going down the path of stress and up spiral your thoughts through positive action.  Here are a few suggestions to boost your days:

Have lunch with a friend! This is something you can do any day, even in the midst of work, school, or just another busy day. This will allow you to forget about the deadlines for a little while and enjoy the company of a person you care about. Even better, use this time to meet new people and friends, like that coworker you’ve never really had the time to get to know.

Have a mini spa day! Take a day (or even part of a day) all to yourself to dedicate to pure relaxation. If money’s a little tight, make your own spa at home! Have a long bubble bath with relaxing music or your favorite TV show, and you can even add in a few candles to create that serene, calming atmosphere. Ahhh, just breathe in the positive and breathe out the negative, carve out some special time for you.

Go for a swim or a beach run! Summer is a time to be in swim suits and minimal clothing, which can be a bit stressful in itself. Since summer is also the time of the best weather, use it to get outdoors and do something active. Walking, running, swimming, and creating your own workout are all things that don’t take a lot of time but will help you get the beach body that will boost your confidence!

Your life becomes exponentially more exciting and fulfilling when you create each day to be a great day!  Take the next step in creating a happier, healthier, lifestyle for yourself, and make this summer the best one yet!

Valentines Day is coming, like it or not and your inner GPS may have you  taking a U-turn! If you’re newly single, divorced or unhappily married, the week of  love could be a cause to celebrate ! Here’s why;  A lull in the romance department sometimes signifies a time to take advantage of your alone time and cherish YOU! In most cases, when you are whole, you attract a whole mate in return, one where you are not willing to settle for anything and both are being true to yourselves and each other. Being true to you may require a change of direction within the inner GPS. What felt like “home” may actually be a subconscious maneuver toward finding resolution from the absence of a parents love, abandonment or a “not good enough” criticism of days past.  We want to be loved and deserve it, no doubt, however, what you believe is love to you may be a pedestal of what you choose to see rather than what is. No one is perfect and there is no perfect love but what I know for sure is love feels good and right when it comes from an unconditional place from both parties. If you can practice unconditional love with self than your halfway there.

A few prerequisites to unconditional love may include the following:

– Unpattern your “feel good” patterns. For example, it may feel good to gain attention from potential conquests, screw around or lead another on, just be prepared for your karma to catch up with you if your intentions are not all about you. If you crave attention and are unhappy being alone it is a sign of  low self – esteem and perhaps a deep insecurity. Chelax, buttercup, everything is temporary , indulge in the quick read, The Four Agreements by Don Ruiz Miguel, it may be just the therapy you need.

– STOP choosing the same type of mate and start acting like the mate you desire. Throw out your list and get down to the business of what matters most, than go be it! If you desire an honest, kind, sweet, funny person, than exude and embody this yourself, you will get twice as far.

– If you continue to face obstacles to love, it is  sign that the lesson is not over yet. Look deeper as to what the lessons may mean and pay attention, you may only require a tweak here and there to get on the same path as your twin – flame. ( soul mates who bring out the best in each other and enhance each others lives, naturally in- sync without force)

So what is the cardinal action for that inner GPS  destination of unconditional love? KINDNESS! be kind to self, be kind to others, be kind to strangers, be kind to nature. Kindness is a gentle form of slowly opening your heart.  No one can learn or care about you with the stone wall you have built around yourself. The opposite of love is fear. It is natural to want to protect our hearts when hurt, however, there comes a time to let go of your pain. The longer you hang on to the stone wall  the longer you believe you deserve to be punished and will then attract it on an unconscious level. Change your thought pattern, Louise Hay offers a great affirmation to release pain in her book, You can Heal your Life. “I lovingly release the past. They are free and I am free. All is well in my heart now.”

In my world, everyday is Valentine’s Day! With that said, treat yourself to a bubble bath, glass of wine, dinner with friends, a good movie or book or that well needed retreat. Enjoy and be open to receive the love that the Universe has to send to you!
