Why Not have a little fun, it’s summer and usually the best way to change your mindset and Get Happy is by giving yourself permission!

I read an article the other day, that one of the reasons why American’s are unhappy, is because we feel confined in our choices. Stress often leads to feeling confined and boxed in where our personality can lean toward old habits, default modes and the good ole comfort zone. Resulting in a feeling of “stuck” in our jobs, finances, health and community.

Allow me to give you the crayon within your mind to color outside the lines and throw out the “confining” box! It’s time for you to play, imagine, feel good and think positive! Truly it is your time to shine. So here are a few ways to do that…

– Give yourself permission with knowing you deserve happiness and get to choose it when ever you want!

– Give yourself permission, to dance, laugh, get the blood flowing in your veins and just ALLOW.

– Give yourself permission to wear whatever you want or even nothing at all, oops. Point being, get comfortable in your own skin, take a bubble bath, relax and get in the water, it washes away the cobwebs of the mind and cleanses the old for the new to come in.

– Give yourself permission to visualize what your heart desires. Imagine it happening, right now, close your eyes and see this happy event taking place in your life. Yes, YOU! It can happen for you. So many people believe good only happens to others but not them. Guess what, you’re up, it’s your turn this time for good and great things to take form and happen. You are more than you ever imagined!! Just give yourself permission, it works!

– Give yourself permission to just stop. Stop the old thinking and self- doubt. This dampens your spirit. We need your spirit, your spirit is here to help others with your talent and your gifts. Don’t deny yourself or others of what you have to offer because when you do, it smothers your joy. Change things up and go IN- JOY!

Every so often, some one comes along that inspires you so much, that you want to bottle up their energy and enthusiasm to take home for yourself. Makes you wonder, what makes them so happy? In todays’ blog I interview such a person, namely, actor, Andrew Mondia. He is so full of happiness and passion for life , I decided to interview him to learn what gets him happy , how he makes his passion work for him and how you can apply it to your everyday life.

1. What is your definition of happiness? headshotsbyrobert.com

Happiness is about following your bliss. Pursuing what it is that gets you on fire. Following what you are guided to do. For me that is sharing my love, light and laughter to the world through what I love to do which is entertaining people in film/TV and stage shows

2. What inspired you to get into acting?

From an early age, I loved having fun and entertaining my friends and family. My main inspiration is my grandfather. He loved to sing and dance plus played the accordion, He also encouraged me as well.

3. As an actor, how do you turn a negative into a positive?

Being an actor you get rejected a lot. Rather than look at the rejection as a negative think of it as one step closer to the role you are meant to do. Not every role is right for you. Just keep preserving and move onto the next audition. Trust in the higher power that the right role will come for you.

4. How do you connect with your audience?

It depends on film it’s harder but on stage you can actually know by the audience’s reaction. The important for me as an actor is to in either case…  connect with the character I am playing and channel my whole being into that role to create that something special that the audience will either hate or love.

 5. As a leader in inspiring others to learn and master their passion, what is one way in which others can define their passion and cultivate it?

One process which I highly recommend is The Passion Test created by Janet Bray Attwood. When you discover what your top 5 passions are and use that as a tool to decide where you desire to go. You cannot go wrong. A highly effective process that is heart based and rather than answer questions that ask you to rate or yes/no or even true/false you are going within to find the answer.

6. There are many behind the scenes taking place in an actor’s life, how do you juggle your passion with getting the next gig?

I lead with an open heart and keep my eyes open for what crosses my paths next. Send out to the universe what I desire and let the answer come to me. I give of myself to others in helping people out and do work on the side when I need to but most importantly keep focus on where it is I desire to go. Sometimes like at present I am required to do something else while I wait for that next step to move to where I need to go. I just know that it is only temporary with what I am doing that is not what I want to do. You never know what lesson can be learned where you are.

7. What is your mantra to get in your happy zone?

So what makes your soul happy? Are you doing something a little each day that inspires your passion, ignites your soul and follows your bliss? It’s your time to shine, reach a higher vibration and say YES to the world with your talent, magic and message. Like , Andrew, he is following and living his calling, this takes courage! Being your own happiness advocate, takes courage! Focus on what you can create and not what’s stopping you, form your happy zone mantra and share it with us on our inspirational blog.

Are you ready to claim your happiness, no matter what?

Chapter 8 Happiness is an Action
Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved.

You can create a kick-butt life at any age. After all, age is just a number. No matter what stage in life you are in, whether you just graduated college, a new mom, in transition, re-building, reinventing, empty nesting , coming out of retirement, divorce or caregiving, you have the capacity to express your uniqueness no matter how old you are. It is inspiring to learn the endeavors of all ages and to realize that it’s never too late for your talent and offering to the world.

Just imagine how you can create an exceptional life and be happy, no matter how old you are. The possibilities are endless. However, more often than not, many stop themselves from creating their dream usually trumped by the  inner critic, not feeling worthy, pure exhaustion or just getting lost in the stress of life  preventing forward motion then giving up on your dream.

A no matter what, I CAN attitude to never, ever giving up on your dream is the mind set that , honestly, propels you forward.  GHZMENTAL WELL-BEING

Did you know that there are no walls between you and your dreams?

There is opportunity for you to get busy and create what you believe or be an ingredient toward a happy accident, as this is where creativity meets opportunity. You never know what life may throw your way , stuff happens and can lead you into a totally new direction, has that  ever happened to you? Well, it happened to me, when my company car reeled out of control one fateful day and slowly stopped in front of two eight -foot Buddha statues outside a furniture store. This was the Universe awakening and re-directing me to my hopes, dreams and inspirations which I put on hold for too long. In fact, had this not happened, I would not have written a bestseller book or mentally, spiritually and emotionally met up with my truth and claimed the burning desire that has led to my inner happiness. What may appear as a wall could actually be an invitation for you to gather your strength and jump over it! Inspiration is the fuel that ignites the fire within, once you tap into it, become unafraid of it, you become unstoppable. Just see how many people have done this and you can too!       ghzemotional well-being

Proof that Inspiration cannot be Ignored:

Age 102 – Australian Mini Munro marries a man younger than her, Dudley Reid, age 83.

Age 90 – Nelson Mandela is on the cover of Time magazine, featuring his “Eight Secrets of Leadership”.

Age 80 – Jessica Tandy wins her first Oscar for Best Actress for her role in “Driving Miss Daisy”.

Age 71 – Fashion icon Coco Chanel debuts the Chanel suit.

Age 64 – Louis Armstrong finishes his version of “Hello Dolly”.

Age 52 – Leonardo da Vinci completes the Mona Lisa.

Age 49 – Julia Child writes her book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”.

Age 36 – Albert Einstein proclaims his general theory of relativity. The fields of astronomy and physics will never be the same

Age 25 – Charles Lindbergh becomes the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in his famous plane, The Spirit of St. Louis.

Age 17 – Serena Williams is the first African-American tennis player to win a Grand Slam singles title since Arthur Ashe.

Age 13 – Bill Gates writes his first computer program.

Age 10 – Tatum O’ Neal wins the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Paper Moon”, co-starring her father, Ryan O’Neal

Get Happy at any Age Inspiration Challenge

Here we are 6 months into the year, time has flown by and it may be time to ask yourself; What do I want? And how I am going to do it? Let’s drill down a bit and really get into the heart of the matter. Write down what gives you meaning on one side of a piece of paper and on the other side what gives you pleasure. Circle the ones that really make you excited and what you yearn for, right now. On a second piece of paper write out all the circled words and notice all your desires sit at the corner of meaning and pleasure which is the pathway to your happiness. And guess what? It has nothing to do with how old you are!

My challenge to you, between now and October  is to mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually align with doing what makes your soul happy. And I invite you to join me on my happiness and well-being journey while I begin to celebrate turning the age of 50! I can hardly believe it, myself. However, I feel 27  and am just getting started on my dreams and inspirations.  Feeling young and having never felt better , I am often mistaken for age 37. So, why is that? Because I AM HAPPY and incorporate a no matter what attitude. Part of this invitation is to learn the top secrets to feeling young, feeling better and gaining energy, so don’t hesitate.

One of my secrets to happiness and success is to meditate and visualize that my dream has already occurred. You see, when you learn to place your happiness first, success is sure to follow!  GHZSpiritual Well-Being

Carolyn_Headshot_Feb_10_2013Today I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 7 of the Virtual Blog Tour of author Carolyn A. Brent whose book The Caregiver’s Companion: Caring for Your Loved One Medically, Financially and Emotionally While Caring for Yourself is celebrating its big Amazon launch tomorrow January 27th2015.

Carolyn A. Brent is a nationally acclaimed author, speaker and caregiver advocate. She has dedicated her life to preparing caregivers and their loved ones to face end-of-life issues. Carolyn is the founder of Caregiver Story, a non-profit organization that provides free medical, legal and wellness resources to the public.

Yesterday, Carolyn visited Andrea Hylen at http://bit.ly/14z0Aeb, where she interviewed Carolyn on the subject of Caregiver preparation support for the loved ones who soon need it.

Today, I’d like to share with you a recent interview I had with Carolyn when I got to ask her on the subject of self-care. The reason why I focused on self- care is because I experienced a breakdown in my own health and wellness due to a lack of self-care. Some people feel self-care is selfish. This is untrue, self-care is an act of self- acceptance, and self-love. I learned this the hard way when i walked away from a six-figured career to save my own life by nearly crashing into two – eight foot Buddha’s when my company car became out of control, this was my rude awakening! I do not want this to happen to you, because you deserve happiness! I hope you enjoy it.

Jackie Ruka: Often as women we tend to be natural caregivers, however, with all the caregiving that we are doing plus taking on a new caregiver role of a loved one, what gets you up in the morning?

Carolyn A. Brent: Yes, caregiving for a chronically ill loved one is a heart-breaking and a difficult situation many caregivers face. I highly recommend learning all you can about your loved ones illness. In my case, once I educated myself with the knowledge about my father’s illness – I found myself better equipped and more mentally prepared to face what may be lurking around the corner. When you know your loved one is depending on YOU for their care –that in its self will be the driving force that will get you up in the morning.

Jackie Ruka: How and where do you get your energy?

Carolyn A. Brent: Throughout my research with current and post-caregivers worldwide, I asked this question, “Where do you get your energy?” Their common tread was to; “Surround yourself with only positive supporting people. And run, run, run, from ALL negative people no matter who they are.” Negative energy only makes you feel bad, defeated, will steal your joy and is a robber of energy. As a caregiver, when you are taking care of yourself; mentally, spiritually, and emotionally — you can expect an energy increase.

Jackie Ruka: What does Self-Care mean to you?

Carolyn A. Brent: Taking care of yourself when you are a caregiver, and take charge of     your own health, and emotional well-being should be your top priority. I suggest discovering strategies to restore and maintain your health and sense of well-being. Have the AIM to become a resilient caregiver who practices self-care. Now, let’s create a self-wellness vision board or daily pop-up messenger reminder on your cell phone. These are examples:

  • Identify your sources of stress, and take the necessary action for change.
  • Today, I will take care of me.
  • Exercise; eat healthy foods, detox, and massages!
  • Practice meditation daily; listen to music that helps with relaxation.
  • Take a bubble bath, light a therapy candle.
  • Go out on a date, and don’t feel guilty.
  • Love yourself and feel good about who you are.
  • Always ask for HELP when you need too!
  • Remember you are not alone, and get the support you need.

WellnessFeeling stuck is usually about living in your fear and not in your inspiration. Stuffing your authentic self will catch up with you and lead you right back to stuck-ville. Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make everyday. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen. – Brene Brown

The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind – the – scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel. –  Steve Furtick

Keeping it real and recognizing that your truth is your happiness –  means you are 90%  closer to fulfilling your dream. Okay, I hear you about ” living on the edge” and requiring ways in which to banish those underlying fears ; dying alone and having no retirement, I  get it! We have all been there and back and there again. Welcome to the 21st Century of living life in a complex world! The number one reason why I wrote my book is because so many  of us driving the freeways, working hard and handling the ups, downs, divorce, sleep problems, stress at work, the list goes on and on.  I have heard it all,  and YOU are not alone! The book is your handy companion to rapidly banish your fears, overcome obstacles and gain the coping mechanisms to get happy , feel alive and feel good about who you are and why you are here to live a meaningful life!

You may have read in many books, articles , tweets, that fear is an illusion. And our thoughts  shape our reality. Well, this is both true and false. When you think into the future and it looks bleak to you, chances are you are living in fear. The more you think into the future in a negative way, the more fear you will feel, to the point where it becomes an illusion. This is unhealthy and not living up to your full potential.

Coping mechanism # 1:  Stop. Clear the ego of self-limiting beliefs and get clear on what you can do right NOW. Focus on two tasks in the now and I promise you will feel better and less stressed.

You may have warranted reasons behind your fear, and it is natural for all of us to feel fear in scary times with not knowing what our mortality will look like?

Coping mechanism # 2: Your health is your wealth. Take care of Y-O-U, first and foremost. Starting your day with a positive thought, knowing your miracle is right around the corner certainly can help, however, the best approach is to call in the big guns! Those who have been there done that are your trusted advisors or soon to be.

Coping mechanism # 3: Ask for help! The sign of a leader is someone who knows how to reach out and ask for help. There is nothing to be ashamed of when asking for help, we are all people here to help each other in some way or form. Someone out there loves you , cares about you and wants to see you happy and successful. In fact, you already are, you just need a reminder.

Fear can stem from a false belief of success or failure and whatever belief you may hold about this can define you to a point where you only  perceive  your shortcomings. Fear is like the little devil on your shoulder telling you, ” No, you can’t do that, who do you think you are?” Squash that little devil and look at your obstacles as a place to stretch and grow beyond your comfort level. Whatever your circumstances, do not allow it to create a poor decision instead,  make a decision that will have a positive lasting effect and not a short term solution that you may regret later. In other words, don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Stay the course, keep your vision and whatever set back may appear represents you being on the right path with knowing and seeing your vision manifestWellness into reality. Mistakes and failures mean you are trying instead of doing nothing at all. Coping mechanism #4; Refuse to feel stressed and say a mantra such as I am successful in all that I do and I trust everything will work out for the best. Replacing a negative thought with a positive thought will get you much closer to banishing your fears.

Coping mechanism #5: How you change your life around is a feat in  being proactive and not reactive. Write down your fear(s) and place some scenarios or solutions around it, think out of the box. Change is inherent part of life and the sooner we accept change the sooner we will get moving . So get moving and I will see you on the other side of the bridge to happiness and success!

QUOTE: You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.  Eleanor Roosevelt
